Ross became the Road Superintendent for the Township of Lobo in 1974 and held that position until April 1990. Ross then accepted the part-time executive director position for the Association of Ontario Road Superintendents while continuing to be employed as the Road Superintendent for the Township of West Nissouri. In May 1991, Ross become the first full time Executive Director for AORS until his death in 1993.
Ross was a great ambassador for the Association and many of his initiatives were instrumental to the growth of AORS throughout the province. Those of us who were fortunate enough to know him, remember Ross for his honesty, sincerity, and sense of humour, but most of all as a true friend.
After his sudden death, the first annual Ross McKenzie Golf Tournament was established in conjunction with the 1994 Trade Show in Oxford County. Â

The 2027 Ross McKenzie Golf Tournament will be held in conjunction with the 2027 Trade Show hosted by the Elgin County Municipal Supervisors Association. It will be held at the Tarandowah Golfers Club at 15125 Putnam Rd, Springfield, ON on Tuesday June 1, 2027.
The Tarandowah Golfers Club is a Canadian tribute and authentic take on the links found in Scotland and Ireland. Unlike anything else you’ll find in Southern Ontario, this course is one that any other golf facility can be envious of.
Registration will take place from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm with a shotgun start commencing at noon. Dinner to follow.
The Tournament will have a limited number of available spots for golfers and will be first come, first serve.
